Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger has revealed a deeply personal and painful chapter of his post-congressional life, sharing that he was disowned by several members of his own family following his outspoken criticism of former President Donald Trump and his role on the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot.
In a recent interview, Kinzinger disclosed that he received a certified letter from family members condemning him for his political views and accusing him of betraying conservative values. The letter, he said, accused him of being part of the Devil’s army and losing the respect of prominent conservative figures like Fox News host Sean Hannity.

While praised by many moderates and Democrats for his principled stand, Kinzinger faced significant backlash from his own party and conservative constituents. Ultimately, he chose not to seek reelection in 2022, citing the toxic political climate and threats made against him and his family.
Despite the personal loss, Kinzinger says he has no regrets. “I stood for what was right,” he said. “If speaking the truth costs me relationships even with familyI can live with that. What I couldn’t live with is being silent.
